Living in Sackville
The questions people ask me before they move here. If yours isn't on the list, ask me directly.
What is the difference between Lower, Middle and Upper Sackville?
They are three neighbouring communities in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Lower Sackville is the most built-up, with most streets developed in the 1970s and the shopping on Sackville Drive. Middle Sackville is the growing suburban middle, with subdivisions like Millwood, Springfield Lake, Berry Hills and Sunset Ridge. Upper Sackville is rural, with bigger lots and many homes on a well and septic. HRM set the official boundaries in 2013, which is why Millwood is now Middle Sackville.

Is Sackville a good place to live?
For a lot of people, yes. You get a real neighbourhood feel, schools and parks close to home, Sackville Drive for everyday shopping, and direct highway access to Bedford and Halifax. It suits families and anyone who wants more house and yard for their money than the peninsula. I live here, so I am biased, but I also tell people when another area fits them better.
How far is Sackville from downtown Halifax?
Lower Sackville is about 25 km from downtown Halifax, roughly a 20-minute drive outside rush hour using Highway 101 and 102. Middle and Upper Sackville add a few minutes depending on where you are.
